Whoa, there is so much going on. Today’s Easy Activism starts with activism and concludes with a few thoughts.
Activism First.
Greta Thunberg, the 16-year-old climate activist who spearheaded the school strikes in Sweden, is leading the charge of young people to save our Mother / Lover Earth. This Friday Sept 20th, Global Climate Strikes are happening worldwide. Join the youth activists as they walk out of school to wake the world up. There is only one Earth and she needs our immediate attention.
WE THE PEOPLE marches are Saturday September 21st. Taking to the streets matters. Look at Hong Kong; they’re on week five. We can protest this criminal President in massive fashion. All it takes it saying YES, I will show up to shut this madness down.
Gas boycott anyone? Wolf has been saying for years to hit them in their pocketbooks. Fossil Fuel, which is hard to escape, is the culprit. The oil greed it killing us. Here’s the idea. Gas free Friday. Fill up Thursdays. This means we don’t buy gas on Fridays. We still buy gas, as most of us need to, and we do it on any day but Friday. We can make this spread. Empty gas stations will be noticed.
And then there is Kavanaugh. The lying-under-oath, sexually assaulting high school and college student (perhaps beyond) who does not deserve to be a Supreme Court Justice. He perjured himself. This is criminal. The DOJ and FBI were negligent in their pre-hearing investigations. The GOP will do anything to get their way. CALL FOR IMPEACHMENT. Click the link and call your representative. The House can start proceedings. Let’s get this going.
Lastly, over the weekend, the Black Lives Matter poster in front of house was vandalized with a Daily Stormer hate filled flyer. The flyer is explicit. I haven’t edited the images, so please note the verbiage and images are deeply upsetting.
Black Lives Matter. Period. We’ve seen the data around incarceration, targeting and being subjugated to less opportunity. Felicity Hoffman gets 14 days in prison for significant bribery. Tanya McDowell, a black women, is sentenced to five years for using her friend’s address to enroll her son in kindergarten while she was homeless. The playing field is not level.
My wife is a person of color. We are queer. We are women. I am Jewish. She is Latina. We know what it means to be othered, which is so freakily confusing as who created this manufactured concept that one person is better than another?
Black Lives Matter.
Immigrants are welcome here.
Women’s rights are human rights.
Science is real.
Water is life.
Love is love is love is love is love is love…
Our protest signs and our mass civil actions are love and hope embodied.
Our hope is that by standing united, we level the field.
Their hate wants to tear us apart.
I know love wins.
And to win we must show up in mass, as Love Activists, showing the world that there is another, more just, more loving way.
See you out there!
In love and gratitude –
