I woke this morning thinking about the elected leaders that have literally and figuratively enslaved us. Then I thought about the power we hold in electing leaders who have and will enact laws that free us.
President Obama and a Supreme Court who understood the value of protecting all people regardless of who they love gave me and the LGBTQ community profound freedom to be.
Even with the failed systems and structures in our modern Government, I still believe. I believe in the power of the people. I believe in exercising our rights. I believe that we can and will make our communities, our country and our world more whole and healthy. I believe we are stronger together. I know that hope floats and fear is an anchor that holds us back from being our best selves.
All of us together have made arriving at this election day more tolerable, more awakened, more inspired and much more connected.
The rising tide of A Beautiful Noise is so gloriously expressed by Alicia Keys and Brandi Carlile. This is the sea change.
Four years ago this election day seemed like an eternity. Time passes regardless of what we do. And time passed as we knitted pussy hats, designed protest signs, marched in the streets, called our elected officials, ran for office, impeached a President, and protected the rights and gave voice to our follow citizens.
This land is your land. This land is my land. This land is our land. Sharon Jones and the Daptones sing it so well. Do take listen and bask in the spirit of who we all are.
Today, I feel good. I really do. This time around, we have put country before candidate. So many of us wanted somebody else at the helm and we didn’t stay stuck. We got behind the people committed to upholding and possibly amending the constitution.
We did this. You did this. In this moment, before the results come in, when close to a 100 million people have already voted before election day, almost the same number of people who didn’t vote in 2016, this is a moment to remember.
We are making history. We may even shatter a glass ceiling tonight. That would feel really good.
Today is our day. The one request I have is to channel your nerves, if you are feeling nervous, into action.
Here’s some EASY ways to do so -
At Feel Good Voting, we have made a series of get out and vote now stories from people who voted early. Please share these on your social media channels. Here’s how -

There are calls to be made.
People procrastinate. People still believe their vote doesn’t matter when it’s one of the most powerful expressions we collectively have. Encourage people to get out and vote. Here’s a link to dial for Democracy.
Lastly, remember that we have arrived herE together And We will continue to rise together.
Regardless of the result, and I’m optimistic for a good one, none of us are free, until we are all free. The work continues. The empathy, advocacy and amplification of those unheard and under represented continues. Loving ourselves and loving one another is a life long journey.
We got this. And in the words of the great Megan Rapinoe, Let’s Fucking Go!
Deepest love and gratitude -
