Yesterday we woke early for our flight to New York as we make our way to the Women’s March in Washington D.C. We proudly wore our Pussy Hats, which our most amazing neighbor and friend Ann speed knit for us.
At each turn, people stopped to share that they too were headed to March in DC, NYC, Tucson, Ft. Lauderdale, the list goes on. We were met with high-fives and raised fists, with cheers and acknowledgements, with huge enthusiasm and a deep sense of unity.
Our plane was filled with marchers, with knitters, with pussy hats, with a buzz and knowing that we are here together, we are awake, we are breathing and we are going to fight with all our might.
I was seated next to an enthusiastic Trump supporter. He was surprisingly gentle and considerate yet misguided and ill informed. He wanted to talk, which we did for about 20 minutes, until he called Obama the worst President in his lifetime. During those 20 minutes I learned he doesn’t really believe women when they say they are sexually assaulted, he dismissed trump for all his vileness because trump supports Israel, because for this Jewish man, the State of Israel is more important that the Country of America. He wears blinders to see what he needs to see, to overlook Steve Bannon, the KKK, David Duke, white supremacists and swastikas. He won’t see the truth because the truth doesn’t align with his narrative.
It was distressing, of course, and more than that it was enlightening. He is blind. We can see. It is because we can see, that we will never let a hate crime, an act of discrimination, an othering of our brothers and sisters occur again on our watch.
It is because we can see that we will stand up to each abhorrent act from this new administration from the cynical cabinet choices to assaulting our liberties, our dignity, our freedom and our planet.
It is because we can see that we make calls, we show up, we run for office, we give money, we join the movements already formed.
We are the revolution.
The revolution was in the streets of NYC last night with Michael Moore, Alec Baldwin, Cher!!! As we listened, we rose up in unity, in solidarity, our voices one as we marched through the streets from trump hotel to trump tower letting the world know that we will not back down, we will not give up, never again will we turn a blind eye.
We see you. We hear you. We know you. We are you. We are one.
We are in this together and together we fight harder than we’ve ever fought before.
Today we rise, tomorrow we march!
We’ll see you there.
In love, in light, in fierce belief, in conviction, in hope, in grace, in determination –

P.S. Two small actions.
1. Please sign this petition, as the March organizers didn’t include Hillary’s name amongst the heroic women we are marching for. I hope this was not intentional and please ask them to fix this and share with all your people - https://www.change.org/p/woman-s-march-on-washington-addhername-include-hillary-clinton-as-a-women-s-march-honoree
2. WATCH THIS AMAZING WOMAN. This is exactly how I feel and she is brilliant! https://www.facebook.com/GroundswellMovement/
